- The Republican Party has held a lead over the Democrats since Donald Trump’s first year in office.
- Kamala Harris and Joe Biden are the heavy favorites to win the Democratic ticket.
- Despite not announcing his presidency efforts, Vice-President Mike Pence is the favorite behind Trump to win for the GOP.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – President Donald Trump led the Republican Party into office during the 2016 presidential election. He is only being challenged by Bill Weld for the Republican ticket and will likely be named the GOP of choice.
However, since his election, the Republican Party has fallen behind the Democrats for the first time in regards to betting odds to win the presidency.
Which Party Will Win The Election?
Democrats: -120
Republican: -110
The difference isn’t much but issues surrounding illegal immigration, tweets towards Congresswomen, and expensive golf outings have decreased Trump’s chances of winning, at least in the eyes of the offshore sportsbooks.
A month ago, the Republicans were the slight favorites (-130) as the Democrats were EVEN to win.
This shift comes as the heat of campaigning has taken fold. Nearly two dozen Democrats entered the race and debated on national television but the list of Dems has diminished, leaving a clearer picture of the race.
Senator Kamala Harris (+225) has become the frontrunner for the Democrats after her strong position on the debate stage, mainly against former-Vice President Joe Biden (+375).
Between these two candidates, Senator Elizabeth Warren (+450), Mayor Pete Buttigieg (+550), and Senator Bernie Sanders (+650), these five will pose the biggest threat to a GOP reelection.
Who Will Become President In 2020?
Despite the Democratic Party taking control over the GOP, the election odds board still shows President Trump as the favorite (EVEN).
This is likely due to the fact that he is a near-guarantee to hold the Republican Ticket, putting him at basically a 50/50 chance to win the race.
On the Democratic side, the same favorites listed above range from +400 to +1000 to win the presidency.
As the campaigning moves through 2019 and takes a turn into 2020, the odds for these two women and three men will likely continue to increase closer to EVEN.
In other words, if betting on the Democratic party is in your mind, now is the time to take action.
