TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s campaign announced on Friday that she has qualified for the September debates.
There are two qualifications that need to be met before a candidate can appear at the September debates. The first one is that a candidate needs to be polling at two percent in four national polls. Sen. Klobuchar met this qualification before the July debates. The second qualification is that a candidate needs 130,000 unique donors. Sen. Klobuchar was missing this qualification before the second debates began.
The second round of the Democratic debates happened last week. Sen. Klobuchar had only one mission, to get noticed. She needed to convince enough people that she is the right choice to take on President Trump. It seems like she accomplished that mission.
Sen. Klobuchar’s campaign staff said that she now has over 130,000 unique donors. Her campaign staff reported that this happened last Thursday after the debates finished. With her qualifying, there are eight candidates ready to appear at the September debates.

Sen. Bernie Sanders
Sen. Elizabeth Warren
Sen. Kamala Harris
Sen. Amy Klobuchar
Sen. Cory Booker
Mayor Pete Buttigieg
Beto O’Rourke
Julián Castro and Andrew Yang are about to qualify as well. They both need to reach two percent in one more national poll to qualify. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard and Marianne Williamson are the next closest candidates to qualify.
The next Democratic debate will be held on September 12 in Houston, Texas. If more than 10 candidates qualify, there will be a second debate on September 13. ABC News is partnering with Univision to host the Houston debates. If a candidate does not make it to the Houston debates, that will likely end their election odds.
