- (R)David Perdue is the betting favorite over Jon Ossoff in the Georgia Senate runoff election.
ATLANTA — The State of Georgia now has the eyes of the entire country on it as the power to declare a winner of the 2020 US Presidential Election and which party will have majority control in the Senate lies in the hands of the voters.
While the US Presidential votes in Georgia are still being tallied as it currently stands Democratic Joe Biden will narrowly win the state and with that victory capture the 270 Electoral votes needed to win the Presidency.
However, even though Georgia is expected to have a recount if the current count holds it could mean big wins for Democrats not just in the White House but also in the Georgia Senate. A Democratic push this Election season has turned the primarily red state into a political battleground.
Georgia and its 16 electoral votes are headed to a recount. Right now, Biden has a narrow edge over Trump with a lead of just 1,579 votes.
“With a margin that small, there will be a recount in Georgia,” Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said today. https://t.co/gH10fBndZx pic.twitter.com/LaIzLm69Sm

The battle for the majority control of the US Senate is why the two Senate races in Georgia are crucial for the Democrats to win in order to sweep the election. The Democrats kept their control over the House of Representatives but coming into the election Republicans controlled the Senate. The Senate races in Georgia were tightly contested and now the runoffs between just two candidates will decide who gets control of the US Senate.
The runoff elections in Georgia are scheduled to be held on January 5, 2021, which would only be a couple of weeks before the Presidential inauguration. These election odds are likely to shift depending on how the presidential vote pans out.
Odds to Win Georgia Senate Runoff
- (R)Kelly Loeffler -200
- (D)Raphael Warnock +150
Winner: (D)Raphael Warnock (+150). Political bettors should take the +150 odds on Warnock to win the runoff election. Warnock won the first election by 6.9% points and received more votes than (R)Kelly Loeffler by a margin of 1,603,262-1,266,999 with 98% of voting precincts reporting. Now that this race is just between Warnock and Loeffler expect Warnock to win this race again as the Democratic Party is finding success in Georgia this election.
Odds to Win Georgia Senate Runoff
- (R)David Perdue -400
- (D)Jon Ossoff +250
Winner: (R)David Perdue (-400). Perdue won the first election between him and (D)Jon Ossoff by a vote count of 2,449,576-2,351,622 and that narrow margin likely won’t be made up in the runoff race making Perdue’s -400 odds the best bet. However, with how the Democratic Party has performed in the state of Georgia the last two elections the +250 Senate odds for Ossoff shouldn’t be avoided by any means. This race could go either way despite what the odds say but knowing the voting history of Georgia take the safe bet on Perdue since he did win the first election.
